Raining a little when we left at 8.15am heading up to Batemans Bay just for one night. We stopped at a very small place called Bodalla 127km north of Pambula. The word Cheese factory caught our eye and a lovely old church which I needed to take a photo of. Then continuing on the A1 Highway most of the way until we turned off at Moruya to take the coast road up to Batemans Bay. After 16km we went out to Mossy Point to see the ocean views. Then on our way 19kms more to get to our Big 4 at East Riverside Holiday Park. Arriving there about 1.30pm
As we were going along the A1 Highway we had to take a detour to bypass a town for some reason and we came across this quaint spot and decided to stop for a coffee.
Out on the pier was this great little cafe
Looking out over the Boat Harbour.
Still travelling along the highway through a very small town called Bodalla, which as far as we could see consisted of a Hotel, a church and a cheese factory the word cheese Factory caught our eye. So we had to stop.
The church was sitting there, up quite a long drive in a pretty setting surrounded by a few trees.
Front of the Church. We had no idea how old it was so asked and were told in the 1890s. It also caught my eye.
The doors were open so I went in,
Beautiful architecture
Across the road opposite the church was the Cheese Factory. They make cheese, yogurt and ice cream all in this factory. We went in and were offered some cheese tasting and left the factory with two different types of cheese and an ice cream each, which ended up being our lunch. The salted caramel ice cream was to die for. Never tasted such smooth caramel ice cream. I could have taken a bucket full with us but don’t think that would have worked while on the road. By the way I haven’t told you that we bought a small chilly/car fridge as we have to carry around butter, milk, cheese etc while on the road. Haven’t got a fridge like a motorhome. We bought it over from NZ as SuperCheap had a good sale. We will bring it home again. It runs off the car and electric power. It’s been very handy works well.
Across on the other side of the street was the Pub. That’s it, couldn’t see any more buildings and only a few people but real worth the stop.
The first photo was the working part of the Factory then this little building next to it was the shop.
We have now turned off the Highway at Moruya to drive the coast road up to Batemans Bay. 16kms further on we stopped for a look at Mossy Point to look at the ocean views.
Big wave coming in which will make a big spray against the rocks
Looking out along the southern coastline.
Still from this point looking back at the local beach.
We have now arrived at our cabin. Sun out now but look what’s coming from the river mouth.
Although we said the first night in a cabin was the best, no all nice and new but it was only a studio no separate bedroom but that doesn’t worry us. We now feel this is the best as we are right on the Riverside, it’s got more space more living area with two bedrooms. It’s still an older type cabin but well presented, good paint work, fresh and clean. Unfortunately we only have one night here as it was really only a stop over as probably not much to do here even though it’s quite a big settlement lots of shops, Malls etc. We now wish we were having two nights as a very peaceful and restful spot. But we have to move on tomorrow.
Looking up river.
Just walked along to where the campsites are. Looking back down to the river mouth.
Looking straight out over the river from our cabin out on the deck.
Looking through to the bedroom with ensuite. It’s Bunk room on the right
Looking from inside across the river where the town is.
Tonight’s sunset amongst the rain clouds. The weather has been so changeable since we left Melbourne. Sun rain and wind nearly every day
It’s been a nice day today at a slower pace, stopping on the way at the above places. Getting into our cabin at 1.30pm and from then stayed put and relaxed enjoying our view watching the tide coming in and now it’s 9.30pm and the waves are crashing against the stone wall outside. Quite loud, so close.
