Bathurst to Denman, 8th May. 2025.

Didn’t get on the road as early as usual. Got away from town about 10.00 am by the time we did another circuit of the race track, then needed to go to Cole’s supermarket before we left.  Travelled further north mainly along the Bylong Valley Way. They call this a tourist route through the Upper Hunter Valley, but the road was terrible, rough and bumpy. Not as in metal road, but as in seal. The scenery was so different from the rugged Blue Mountains, to rolling hills, farmland and a few bigger hills to wind over and driving through the Bylong Valley. If the road was in better condition it would have made it a lovely drive through the countryside without all the traffic. But apart from the bumpy road we did enjoyed the scenery. We arrived in Denman at 1.30pm. This place is a small country town known for its fine wines, good food and heritage charm. I had read about the beautiful Upper Hunter Valley  Vineyards  but haven’t seen any yet so maybe we will see them all on the other side of town as we leave here tomorrow. Only one night here as I call it just a sleepover. Two bigger driving days today and tomorrow. Not a lot to do in this little town, so just had a relaxing afternoon in out cabin in a lovely quiet, peaceful setting.

.

One more circuit today before left. A great day not a cloud in the sky and no wind. Yesterday was partly cloudy and windy.

Stop at Panorama Mountain looking down over the circuit but as looking straight into the morning sun not very clear to pick out anything. The oblong building to the right is our hotel and road running down to it is part of the circuit. To the left of the Hotel is Pit lane

When we drove round today I realised that there was an opening that I could get a good photo of the Pits, although all the garage doors were closed.

Racing past the hotel down to Pit lane, now finishing our 2nd lap. Then off to the supermarket.

Last look in the town of Bathurst.

Finally on the road. What a great day not a cloud in the sky. A shame we have to be in the car for half the day. We have now left the busy traffic behind us and travelling through the quiet countryside.

Getting a last  glimpse of the autumn leaves.

A rest spot in the country.

Lots of nice scenery. Big contrast to the coast and the Blue Mountains.

Driving on. A few bends going over the hills.

This light green doesn’t look natural but it was true to colour.

Now arrived in the small town of Denman where we are having one night.

Two old pubs in a very small town

Main Street, hardly saw anyone. Could stand in the middle of the street to take this photo. Still no cars .

This old building has been around a very long time.

Arrived at Denman Van Park to open the door of our cabin to find this immaculate presentation. Looked brand new as we were the first people to use it but that wouldn’t be the case.

It’s just great. It might be smaller than some but perfectly formed. Its all we need.

Even though it’s smaller than some it’s the best in newness and presentation.

Just finished unpacking now walking around this very pretty park. So quiet and peaceful. No noisy surf and no traffic noise. 👌

Ours is the middle cabin.

Looking over this quaint park with this little river running through.

When we arrived there was so much bird noise. Didn’t give it much thought until later looked up in these trees across the river, and saw these hundreds of Bats all hanging from the branches.

Evans Head, 16th May, 2025

Woke up to fine weather after  all the rain we had yesterday. The sun was barely up and PT said let’s go and see the area while it is fine....
