Denman to Uralla via Tamworth, 9th May, 2025

We have a birthday boy today. Happy Birthday Adam T. Our eldest grandson. Hope your Germany birthday goes well and all the best Nana and Pop. 🥰. On our way to Uralla, we stopped at Tamworth Australia’s home of country music. Tamworth  hence has a guitar 12m high x4m wide standing in town. Population is 43,874 as at 2021. One of the biggest cities in NSW. The city is known as the ‘(First Town of Light) being the first place in Australia to use electric street lights in 1888. Annually Tamworth hosts the country’s music festival in late January. Visitors pour into this region in the north west of NSW, for their famous musical festival which is held over 10days, and  has been held for fifty years. The home of the Golden Guitar awards. The hall of fame opened in 1992 and is actually in the shape of a Guitar.

Just approaching Tamworth for a look around before we continue on to Uralla.

Have now arrived in Tamworth the home of country music.

Passing some prime real estate. 🤗

Dropped into this small coffee shop called Camp Ground. Not sure why but I think they were trying to make it small and casual like camping.🤔

This golden guitar stands as a tribute to the original Golden Guitar which was designed as a trophy for the Australian Country Music award which was started in Tamworth, January. 1973.

Went for a walk down Main Street of Tamworth.

The three of us.

The two of them.

Towns old Post Office. The palm tree got in the way of the tower clock.

Corner Pub.

Approaching the drive up to Oxley Scenic Lookout.

Great view looking down over the town of Tamworth.

Finally arrived at Grace Cottages in the small of Uralla about 80kms north of  Tamworth. There are two cottages on this property plus the owners house sitting up high on the side of the hill. I will take a wider photo tomorrow showing how the two cottages look. The owners house is at the back slightly over the hill so can’t quite see her house.

Driving up the drive,

The main road goes along the bottom, which is just a back country mettle road 2km away from the small town. I have only noticed one car go by so far. But haven’t been watching all afternoon. Then the drive comes off that road and splits into two. Up to us then the other cottage is up the other drive.

Such a quiet peaceful spot. On arrival we found a freshly baked loaf of bread, farm eggs, bacon in the fridge, homemade cookies, cereals,  butter and milk. The place also has a pile of wood and a log burner. Very cosy room only using heat pump tonight but the temperature is meant to be dropping a bit tomorrow so might light the fire then. What a great place to spend the next three nights. We won’t go cold. Lots of sites to see around this area. Weather is looking a bit of a mix while we are here but hope it wont be too bad. Not a lot to talk about today. Half the day was travelling. We will spend the next two days exploring the area. Nice to be out in the country.
