Today we drove 16km north to Blackheath to explore the lookouts up there. When we arrived at the Blue Mountains yesterday we noticed this Bluey colour mist going through the valleys of the Mountains. We were told that the eucalyptus in the gum trees in the valleys were making the mist look blue. Hence you will notice that some of the photos have a hazy look which comes from the eucalyptus. We didn’t see anymore in Katoomba or a little town called Leura today, so will continue with these places tomorrow. I have headed the names of the areas we went to. I didn’t remind everyone to tap or click on the photos as it enhances them. They aren’t as clear if you don’t. And if looking on your phone then turn the phone sideways.
GOVETTS LEAP
Above and below this waterfall is not much to see like the others we have seen. There hasn’t been much rain to make the waterfalls more spectacular only get this in the rainy season but who would want to be up here then.
We are enjoying the sandstone escarpments, sheer cliff walls and the Grose Valley.
These valleys are very deep down under these trees. When we look straight down the edge of the cliff into the trees it’s very deep. The photos don’t really show this. I would love to know how deep it is under all the trees.
Just leaving one of the tracks in this area
PERRYS LOOKDOWN
Scenic views over the Grose Valley (no I haven’t spelt it wrong) and blue gum forest. I love looking down along these valleys.
ANVIL ROCk LOOKOUT
Easy walk starting off with these gradual steps.
Playing peek a boo. Just liked the shape of this rock.
Going up the steps to the lookout
Around the rock
Great outlook.
Last lot of steps to the top of the rock.
Im standing at the top of the rock looking down.
EVANS LOOKOUT
The council makes a good job with all these lookouts and walking track areas. Always so neat and tidy and well cared for. This is the path that goes down to Evan’s Lookout. I love the way they do these ramps instead of steps makes it so much easier to walk down. Have seen them around a lot.
I love these escarpments.
I could stand here for hours looking at these views but must move on.
The autumn leaves are stating to drop but nice to enjoy them before the winter. One of the residential streets in Blackheath.
In the Town of Blackheath to buy some lunch to take down to the park. This building is the local picture theatre. We parked our car under this street art on
the side of the building and walked away but didn’t notice it until we walked back. So I will finish off today to brighten your day with some close ups.
Tonight is our 13th night away. We are half way through our holiday already. 🤔
